Wrap Up

It was great to complete the program and having learned heaps along the way.
I will certainly be looking forward to implementing some of these great tools in our library service.
Social Networking certainly offers a lot more than I realised and it would be really great to see our library on facebook.
Many thanks to the SL for providing this great avenue for learning and we look forward to more of the same in the future.

Online applications and tools

I was amazed at how easy and simple to use the google docs was and didn't realise how many application were out there.
Great for sharing documents with staff in remote locations across our region.
I can see we will be able to use these applications to improve our library service.

Mashups

Mashups are a lot of fun it was great to experiment with the different aspects on offer.
Big huge labs is a really good site and makes it easy. There are many applications for libraries with the only restriction being the time available.

Answer Boards and Social Searching

Answer boards are a great tool and are informative, helpful and even funny.
There are some great ones that you can share with people of similar interests.
I also think promoting Libraries through answer boards could be very useful.

Social Searching is one of the great points about Libraries 2.0

Delicious and Library Thing

Delicious ......It was great fun exploring this site and I think the name does say it all!
Library thing was also an interesting adventure I would love to see Library Thing incorporated into our online library catalogue and have already put it on my to do list.

Take it to the limit!!!!!

I really enjoyed exploring the world of video being an area I had not much experience in. It is easy to see the advantages available to libraries and amazing to see what libraries are already doing. I can see libraries using this area for many different projects.

Learning the RSS way

Was interesting setting up the feeds is great to be able to check for these blogs in one place makes it easier to manage. I mainly selected Book Reviews, Literature and News and after a few hiccups managed to set up the feed for The Powerhouse Museum Photo of the day.

I think there is great potential here for libraries.

A book review may never be the same!!!!

We're away

  • This is my first attempt at blogging and it was interesting that it was easier to create than anticipated.
  • Blogs can be useful to promote things happening in libraries such as local history, teen events, book clubs etc and to be able to gain client feedback is a very large plus.
  • I hope to learn and understand better aspects of technology and how we can use it to increase awareness of library events and knowledge. I am looking forward to learning more throughout the program and to utilise what I have learned within the working environment.
  • Life long learning is just that - life is a learning experience which enpowers us to do better things.
